Solar Cyclist is proud to be partnered with some of the hardest working charities under the sun.

We Care Solar reduces maternal mortality in developing regions by providing solar-powered lighting, communication, and medical devices, enabling health workers to provide effective, around-the-clock emergency care.

Renew is an Australian non-profit organisation that inspires, enables and advocates for people to live sustainably. Renew assists disadvantaged people in Timor Leste by providing valuable solar panels.

CORENA is an Australian non-profit that provides a practical and effective way for ‘the people’ to collectively fund new renewable energy installations NOW instead of just waiting on government action.

Supply reliable lighting for a child’s nightly study and home safety.
Run a small portable fridge to keep food safe and families healthy.

Operate a life-saving Solar Suitcase w/ fetal & health monitoring.

Over a billion people still live without electricity and hundreds of millions more live
with unreliable, expensive, or dirty power. This has a significant impact on health,
education, food security, gender equality, livelihoods, poverty, and the environment.

Without electricity families have no clean source of light or refrigeration, leaving
millions to rely on expensive and dangerous alternatives such as homemade kerosene
lamps and dirty and expensive diesel generators (if they are lucky).

With solar power, everything changes. Solar panels capture the sun’s clean energy
and help power lamps, refrigeration, and life-saving medical devices.

Families can earn, learn and feel safe after dark.

Every watt of energy you generate can transform the fortunes of an entire family
and is the first step on an energy ladder to full electrification.

•  Roughly 840 million people live without electricity.

•  Roughly 573 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa live without electricity.

•  300,000 mothers and more than one million newborns die annually from complications of pregnancy and childbirth.

•  Thousands of health centers lack reliable electricity for life-saving care.

•  Regions where maternal and newborn mortality are the highest overlap with regions where modern energy services are lacking.

•  The burning of kerosene lamps contributes to the death of 1.5 million people every year.

We are currently partnered with ‘Renew’ – providing support to families in Timor Leste;  ‘We Care Solar’ – providing solar-powered medical suitcases across Asia, Africa, and South America; and Corena Fund – providing support to regional Australia.

We will be working to include this feature in later releases of Solar Cyclist.

You can track the impact you’re having right within the App. Where possible, the charities we work with are independently audited to ensure maximum bang for buck. Additionally, we are undertaking to have our own activities independently audited by an internationally respected accounting firm.

Currently ‘no’. We are working to integrate with other leading tracking Apps like Runkeeper, but for now you need to use Strava.

The power generated by all of the riders using the Solar Cyclist App is aggregated, so it is not possible for us to show you which specific solar system your efforts have contributed to. However, we can focus in on a specific region and tell you which country you are supporting.

Please contact us at – we’d love to hear from you!

We will be running a number of challenges and competitions both for individuals and teams. Prizes will include bonus watts and even cycling products and discounts with the brands you know and love.

Solar Cyclist is a commercial organisation relying on people subscribing to paid plans to generate revenue. We work with and support registered charities and we are aiming to disrupt the traditional charity model by gamifying charity and providing real-time feedback loops so that you can give back to charity simply by doing what you love every day. You win, they win, the environment wins, we win = everyone’s happy!

Ping us at and let’s talk!

Solar Cyclist was created to make a difference.

We set out with one goal in mind; build a business to help those in need.

A charity relies on donations and grants in order to be sustainable.

We want to disrupt the charity model.

Instead of asking for donations when you complete a challenge, you do what you love and we do the rest.

By gamifying charity and providing realtime feedback, we can do good for ourselves while doing good for the planet.

Solar Cyclist aims to create a sustainable business model that makes a genuine difference for those in need.

If you are a cycling brand interested in partnering with us, a rider who wants to know more about how to help those in need, an event organiser who wants to make a difference, or for any reason at all… we’d love to hear from you.
